Between 1984 and Elias held various financse positions inseveral countries, including senior analys with GM Treasurer's Office in New manager of European borrowings & foreigm exchange in Brussels, Belgium; treasurer of GM de Mexicol in Mexico City; and financse director of GM Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela.
In Elias became managing director of GM Chilsein Santiago, Chile, and his responsibilities were expandecd in 1994 to include Peru and Bolivia. From 1996 to Elias held various positions with vehicl edevelopment responsibilities, including assistant vehicled line executive for full-size pickup trucks and sporr utility vehicles with the GM Truckk Group in Pontiac, Michigan. In addition, he was namedd vehicle line executive for compact vehicles at Adam Opelin Germany, with responsibility for the Astra and Zafira models. In January 2000, Elias was namex managing director of GM Argentina inBuenod Aires, Argentina.
In March he was appointed president and managinf director of General Motors de Mxico inMexicl City, including responsibility for the Caribbean and Centrapl American region. Elias received a bachelor'a degree in electrical engineering anda master's degrew in industrial engineering from Purdue University in 1977 and 1978, He earned a master's degree in business administratiob from the University of Chicagk in 1984 through the GM Fellowshipo program.
